Overland Park, KS— The Brown Men's and Women's Club Soccer teams participated in the 31st annual NIRSA 2025 Soccer National Championships held at the SCHEELS Overland Park Soccer Complex in Overland Park, KS from November 20th to November 23rd. Brown Men's Club Soccer participated in the Men's Open Division, earning an at-large bid. This is the 2nd time in program history that Bruno Men's Soccer participated in Nationals after qualifying in 2024. Brown Women's Club Soccer partook in their first-ever trip to nationals in the Championship Division claiming an automatic bid after winning the Regional #1 Championship in October and an undefeated regular season.
Brown Women's Club Soccer earned one of the number one seeds heading into group play. On Thursday, 11/20, the Bears battled Ohio State to a 0-0 tie, earning a point to open pool play. Later that evening, needing a win to advance to the knockout stage, Bruno edged Virginia Tech 3-2 in a rain-soaked affair, punching the Bears' ticket to the Championship bracket. The following day, on Friday, 11/21, BWCS drew Missouri in the Opening Round of the knockout stage. The Bears and Tigers kept things scoreless, and the game seemed destined for penalties until Mizzou scored with three minutes left in regulation to claim victory and advance.
Brown Men's Club Soccer opened pool play in the Men's Open Championship with an early morning game vs. UC Santa Barbara on Thursday, 11/20. The Gauchos jumped out to a 2-0 first-half lead after the Bears dominated possession for most of the first half. Bruno rallied and scored two unanswered second-half goals to earn a 2-2 tie and a point in opening pool play. In the second game of the day vs. Colorado (Black), however, the script got flipped as BMCS jumped out to its own 2-0 first half lead before surrendering two Buffalo goals in the 2nd half to end in a 2-2 draw. Needing a win and some help to advance out of group play, Bruno faced Elon in an early morning contest on Friday, 11/21. Torrential rain throughout most of the game made conditions hard for either team to score, and the match ended in a 0-0 tie. The Bears, unfortunately, did not advance, falling a point short of Elon to finish in the Top two of the group.
Both Brown Men's and Women's Club Soccer fall seasons are complete, and both squads will now gear up for the Spring 2026 season, which will include the Ivy League Tournament. The Men are going for their 8th consecutive Ivy Championship and are slated to host the tournament in Providence at a date and time to be determined. After one of the best seasons in program history, the Women's Club Soccer team will look to reclaim the Ivy Championship and win their 3rd title in the last four seasons (2023 & 2024). Yale is tentatively scheduled to host this years Women's tournament at a date and time to be determined.
