First-year standout Calli Gilchrist delivered a statement performance at the U20 Women's Nationals and World Team Trials, placing third at 53 kg and earning a coveted spot on the U20 United States National Team.
Gilchrist powered through an elite field in dominant fashion, stringing together a series of bonus-point victories against some of the nation's top competitors. Her impressive run included wins over nationally recognized athletes from programs across the country, highlighted by multiple pins and technical falls.
Among her standout victories were a first-period pin over NJCAA National Champion Rosalia Rubio (Iowa Western), technical fall wins against Hepua Salter and Ayane Jasinski (Wartburg), and a lightning-fast pin in just 44 seconds over Gable Hemann (Wartburg). Gilchrist also secured a statement decision victory over Isabella Marie Gonzales, the tournament's No. 2 seed and a multiple-time Pan-American champion, before finishing strong with a pin over top-seeded Abbi Cooper (Lehigh) and another quick fall against Libby Roberts (Grand Valley State).
Throughout the tournament, Gilchrist showcased her ability to score in bunches and close matches decisively, finishing with four pins and two technical falls. Her comeback decision over one of the top seeds further demonstrated her composure and competitiveness on the national stage.
This marks Gilchrist's first selection to a U.S. National Team, a major milestone that underscores her rapid rise and potential as she continues to pursue World and Olympic aspirations.
Gilchrist's performance also reflects the strength of the program. Brown was the only Ivy League program to produce an All-American at the event and one of just two collegiate club programs nationwide to place an athlete on the U.S. National Team this year, alongside Oklahoma State. In its inaugural season, the program has already produced multiple All-Americans and now boasts a U.S. National Team member.
